If you want to work in a leadership or management role in the Tourism and Hospitality industry, or you’re currently employed and want to upskill and move into a senior position, this exciting NEW programme will help get you there.

Over an 18 month period, you will complete two qualifications:

  • New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 5)
  • New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel (Level 5)

Real world learning, research, work placements, field trips and classroom lessons will prepare you to meet the growing needs of the food and beverage, hotel and accommodation, and tourism and travel sectors in New Zealand and globally.

You will develop knowledge and skills in managing people and performance, events, stock, inventory, budgets, waste and quality of products and services.

This unique programme will give you an understanding of the quality systems, practices and values that define successful hospitality and tourism businesses.

You’ll learn what sustainability and corporate responsibility mean in practice, how the concepts of what kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga mean in practice and how they can be applied to create distinctly New Zealand experiences, how to plan and execute promotional campaigns effectively in the digital age, and the role of niche market tourism.

This programme uses a blended learning model, including practical, hands-on classes and time spent on-site with industry. You will spend 200 hours on placement which gives you valuable first-hand experience in a supportive learning environment and allows you to make industry contacts.

The tourism and hospitality industry is the second largest export earner in New Zealand and it’s set to grow with an estimated 39% increase in visitor numbers by 2023.
